What is a reference resource and how do I narrow my search to reference sources only?

Answer

A reference resource (print or digital) provides a relatively short definition of a word or overview of a subject. There are many different kinds of reference sources, including: dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, and handbooks. For example:

Benezit: dictionary of artists2006. A print dictionary, found in the Library.

Grove Art Online. A digital scholarly art encyclopedia which is part of the Oxford Art Online database of art reference sources, including definitions, articles, images and bibliographies.

In order to narrow your search to reference sources only, you can use the Tweak your results facet menu on the left-hand side. This will allow you to filter your search results. Select the drop down menu Resource Type>Reference Entries.

See Using Library Primo>Primo bells and whistles for more information about filtering your search.
